- Creation of a digital landscape observatory
- Solution
- An image bank with digital copies of old image material. Some of the images are accessible via the Internet to the general public. This heritage website presents the history of villages, neighbourhoods and hamlets.
CO7 (CultuurOverleg Zeven) is the partnership for culture and heritage between the seven municipalities of Heuvelland, Ypres, Langemark-Poelkapelle, Messines, Poperinge, Vleteren and Zonnebeke. CO7 is deeply rooted in the Southern Westhoek. As a cooperation of seven municipalities they want to give oxygen to culture and heritage and develop a sustainable network.
Challenge
The aim is to set up a digital landscape observatory. In this way, the organisation can involve residents in documenting the evolution of their living environment using different map layers linked to images and other documentation.
In addition, the challenge is to be able to include recent photographs and old images in private possession in the observatory and make them available to the public in a simple and attractive way.
Solution
Since 2020, they have been using MediaHaven DAM to centralise and manage their images. At the request of the client, the import module was also enriched with client-specific functionalities, such as the ability to determine the location via a point on a map. Their DAM is also integrated with a custom-made website that is being built in close cooperation with our sister company Calibrate. This site is still under development.
